Valerian Dosage

Valerian Dosage

First I should say I am not a doctor any kind of health profession. This is all from my experiences with using Valerian. It can be taken in pill form, tea, or liquid (root) extract.  The recommended Valerian dosage for adults is 300 to 600 milligrams of the root extract per day. When taken as a sleep aid, use 300 to 500 milligrams approximately 30 minutes before bedtime in an extract (liquid) form. The Valerian dosage during the daytime should be half of what you take to go to sleep. Each individual should adjust their dosage accordingly when treating a nervous condition or when using as an anxiety herb. A health professional should be contacted before taking Valerian extract to be sure of their safety and effectiveness.

Where to get Valerian

If you are also looking to get some Valerian products here are a couple online stores I’ve used before. Herbal Remedies and The Natural Store both have Valerian in capsule, tea, root extract and powder form. To go straight to the Valerian products page at Herbal Remedies, just click here.
