Herbs For Bronchitis
Bronchitis is usually caused by bacterial and viral infections that inflames the bronchial membranes which makes it difficult to breath normally. Some symptoms can include continuously coughing because of phlegm, being out of breath, having a mild fever, or having a constant aches in the chest. Inhaling polluted air which contains chemical fumes, smoke and dust can lead to bronchitis.
There are many prescribed doctor medications that are used to treat bronchitis. However, if you are looking for a cheaper, more natural approach then herbs for bronchitis should work for you. Some herbal remedies may not treat bronchitis in full but rather help in reducing the symptoms. But there are some herbs that are sufficiently effective when used together with other mainstream medications.
The main way to consume herbs for bronchitis is in tea. One common herb is creosote bush. This herb is especially effective with a number of other breathing problems also. Tea made with colts-foot can help hold back spasms from occurring in the bronchus. Tea made from pleurisy roots can be greatly beneficial in getting rid of coughing and allowing easier breathing.
Herbal experts have also suggested drinking 3 or 4 cups of lemon and rose-hip tea every day. This tea can also be enhanced by adding garlic and ginger to it. It should be drunk even a few weeks after your symptoms have gone away. This mixture can also help fight bronchitis and improve the immunity to keep it away.
When you do have bronchitis it is best to stay away from regular cough medicines. These just suppress the cough and is considered unhealthy because you need to cough in order to get rid of the mucus that is blocking the respiratory tubes.
Another natural way to fight bronchitis is to inhale steam that is rich in antiseptics. You can prepare this by taking a bowl of steaming hot water and add 4 to 5 drops of eucalyptus oil or melaleuca oil extracted from tea trees. Then cover your head using a towel and breath the vapors in deeply. This should be done for about twenty minutes while adding a few drops of the oil you are using every five minutes. Do this twice daily; once in the morning and once during the evening.
An alternative natural remedy to herbs for bronchitis or inhaling vapors is massaging vegetable oil on the back and chest. This helps collapse the cough that is clogging the lungs, which then makes it easier to breathe.
Herbal remedies or any type of natural remedy is always the safest way to go. If done properly, they don’t usually consist of any harmful side effects that you get with prescribed medications. They will help clear lungs and get rid of bronchitis and it’s symptoms without having to worry about what other new symptoms may occur in the process.
